About this Event
The Pillowman tells the tale of Katurian, a fiction writer living in a police state, who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a number of bizarre child murders occurring in his town. When the police also take his mentally impaired brother into custody, Katurian must decide how best to protect himself, his brother, and his stories. With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, this black comedy examines the role of the artist in society and asks what price do we pay for freedom of expression. Please be advised that this play discusses and depicts sensitive content.
Content Warnings: This play is intended for mature audiences only. This production contains harsh language, racist and ableist comments; child abuse, child violence, and mentions of child sexual assault; depictions of mental illness, homicide, violence, religious violence, and police brutality; mentions of suicide and sexual assault, and firearm use.
