The Palmetto Proving is an eight‑hour tournament prep workshop built around the "ecological approach" of training! A day filled with sparring‑based games, constrained scenarios, and plenty of time spent actually fencing rather than just drilling. We’ll dig into rulesets from different tournaments, talk through the nuances that can make or break a tournament match, and spend a significant chunk of the day on situational sparring. That means we’ll set up specific pressure moments, like starting a bout when you’re down on points, so you can practice making smart decisions under tournament stress. Speaking of tournament stress; we're going to talk about it and give you tools to help manage yourself the day before, during, and after the tournament.
The workshop runs from 12:30 pm to 8:30 pm, with a break for lunch on your own, and costs $50 per person. After we wrap, there’s an optional dinner gathering for anyone who wants to keep hanging out.
Whether you’re newer to competing or just want to sharpen your approach before the next event, the focus is on learning by doing in a low‑ego, high‑feedback setting.
