About this Event
Worcester College is excited to announce its first ever residential for singers: The Oxford Choral Experience. Singers are invited to stay at Worcester College for three days and experience life as a Choral Scholar at Oxford.
The residential will run from Friday 28th June to Sunday 30th June. This is a free program, and accommodation and meals will be provided at no charge.
The first-of-its-kind weekend residential will:
- Introduce students to life at Oxford, exploring both the range of subjects available to study and the application process;
- Offer opportunities for high-level music-making in a College setting;
- Provide a singing lesson with one of the College’s singing teachers;
- Bring together students from across the UK to connect through academic and social activities;
- Inspire students to fulfil their ambitions and potential.
Led by Director of College Music Caius Lee, our team of friendly tutors, academic experts and student ambassadors will guide students through an exciting programme of academic and social activities.
We prioritise places for academically promising students from backgrounds under-represented at Oxford, offering them the opportunity to experience high-level music-making and make informed decisions about university applications. All applicants must be in Year 12, their first year of A-Level studies, or equivalent (Year 13 in Northern Ireland).
Purchasing a free ticket is an expression of interest, not a confirmation of place. Please fill out the application form linked in the ticket's description.
Timeline:
Application deadline: Monday 29th April 2024
Teacher reference deadline: Monday 29th April 2024
Residential: Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June 2024
Teacher References:
You will need to provide the name and email address of a teacher (or teachers) happy to provide references for your participation in the programme. We require two references: one academic/character and one musical. The same teacher can provide both references if they are qualified to, or you can nominate two different people (e.g. your form tutor and your singing teacher).
