BETHANY BLACK: ALWAYS BET ON BETH
WINNER OF 'BEST NEW SHOW' AT THE 2023 LEICESTER COMEDY FESTIVAL
In 2019 Beth faced turning 40 head on and moved to a small village just outside the town she grew up in. She imagined she’d be able to get away from it all, but in today’s hyper connected age that was more difficult than she imagined… A queer story of rural living, conspiracies, an unfortunate medical condition and PC building.
You may have recently seen Bethany Black supporting Joe Lycett on tour or as the role of 474 in Doctor Who with Peter Capaldi and Reece Shearsmith.
JOE.co.uk 2020 Comedian of The Year Award
As seen in Cucumber, Banana, Tofu (C4), Doctor Who (BBC).
“You’re onto a winner with Bethany.” ★★★★ Funny Women.
★★★★ Fest Mag.
“Comedy’s Henry Cavill” – Joe Lycett

9:00pm - 10:00pm
PHIL ELLIS
(Work in Progress Show)
Phil Ellis is an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy.
Phil won the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award’s panel prize in 2014 with his undisputed anarchic sleeper hit of a show Funz and Gamez. After meeting incredible critical acclaim, Funz and Gamez was broadcast as part of Fresh from the Fest (BBC Radio 4), as well as part of BBC Comedy Feeds (BBC Three). The show went on to have an 18-show run at the Soho theatre as well as a further run at the Udderbelly on Southbank.
Phil has written and starred in three series of his radio sitcom Phil Ellis is Trying (BBC Radio 4), with cast including Lolly Adefope, Johnny Vegas, Sean Lock and Lee Mack. The second series was nominated for Best Scripted Comedy (Longform) in the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2020.
Phil’s TV appearances include Roast Battle (Comedy Central), The Tez Show (Channel 4), The Russell Howard Hour (Sky) and Drunk History: UK (Comedy Central), as well as writing and performing credits on The Tapeface Tapes (BBC Three).
Currently touring his latest show 'Hedgehog' which again received rave reviews at last years Edinburgh Fringe, Phil will be stepping away for the night to run out his new show with us on June 8th.

'Nothing is ever what it seems in a Phil Ellis show… there are surprises and treats lurking in every nook and cranny' ★★★★ (List).

'Ellis, as a character is both completely likeable and absolutely appalling' ★★★★★ (Scotsman).

★★★★ (Guardian).

★★★★ (Times).
