The authors of the new book "Staying Gold: The Oral History of The Outsiders," Danny Boy O'Connor and Jimmie Tramel, will be interviewed by Tulsa Press Club President Jason Collington about the stories behind the stories of the book and movie that is now a Tony Award-winning musical. The free event is in Theater No. 3 at Circle Cinema, which was featured in "The Outsiders" movie. The authors will do a book signing after the interview. Books, published by Penguin Random House on Nov. 4, will be available for sale at the event.
About the authors:
Hip Hop artist Danny Boy O’Connor purchased the “Curtis Brothers House” in Tulsa that was used in "The Outsiders" movie. He turned it into The Outsiders House Museum that opened in 2019. In 2024, more than 200,000 visitors connected with the museum’s mission to inspire through literature, history and the arts.
Feature writer Jimmie Tramel covers pop culture for the Tulsa World and is a former Oklahoma Sportswriter of the Year whose two previous books were about former OU football coach Barry Switzer and former OSU football coach Pat Jones.
