The Outer Banks / Night Sky Capture 2027
About this Event
Nightscapes / Capture the Night Sky
Come join us for an exciting night of capturing the mesmerizing beauty of the night sky. This event will focus on techniques for capturing star filled skies, including the Core of our Milky Way, and the Winter Milky Way w/Orion over dramatic landscapes. February is the month to capture the Milky Way rising in the Southeast and Orion setting just after sundown. This event is perfect for anyone looking to enhance their night sky photography skills with hands-on learning.
There is a Maximum of 5 participants and a Minimum of 3 participants for this event.
Dare County / Cape Hatteras National Seashore is a great dark sky area suitable for capturing the Milky Way and Night Sky.
Night Sky capture is geared towards photographers with an interest in Astro-Photography / NightScapes utilizing proper capture technique. A FULL FRAME Sensor digital camera is suggested, a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.8 or wider, a cable shutter release, and a sturdy tripod. Information on camera settings for proper capture/exposure for Night Sky will be provided as it relates to your equipment. Our focus will be on the best possible capture of a properly exposed single frame capture, stacking, and tracking for the ultimate night sky image.
Proper dress for this event is a must for areas that may have standing water, high tides, to include insects typically found in this coastal area. We know it's Winter / February but not too cold in this area, cold enough to keep those pesky bugs away.
