The Orphan Train Experience
Renée is from Minnesota and her mother, who was one of the children of the orphan trains, took part in a phenomenal journey from New York City to the Midwest with others like herself. Inspired by her mother, she offers a historical Power Point symposium to educators and schools, community and civic organizations, and libraries and history centers about the history of the orphan trains sprinkled with her own personal stories.
Renée is the author of two books written about the orphan trains. One of her books is used as a graduate level study course at Brooklyn College. In conjunction with her books, Renée, and her extensive orphan train knowledge has been involved in theatre, television, radio, podcasts, newspapers, books, and music.
