THE OCCULT THEMES OF TWIN PEAKS: DUALISM, DOUBLES, & DOPPELGANGERS with William Kiesel

'THE OWLS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM' becomes an iconic understatement when

Major Briggs offers it to Agent Cooper in the Great Northern Hotel. The surreal and abstract nature of the enigmatic television series, Twin Peaks, can prove baffling even to the initiated. Sometimes, answers become explicitly clear over time, but more often than not, the mysteries pile on and remain inscrutable while hinting at some deeply occult forces at work.

William Kiesel will offer insights on how to view Twin Peaks through a Qabalistic lens, using Hermetic principles and Tarot as the basis of inquiry. From there, he will give examples spanning a hidden world underpinning Twin Peaks and other beloved films of David Lynch, tying everything into a bow under a Blue Rose.

As a native of the Pacific Northwest, William Kiesel spent his formative years playing in 'those old woods' where Twin Peaks was set, eating cherry pie at the Double R Diner and exploring behind the Falls beneath the Great Northern Hotel. With over 30 years as a practitioner of the occult, his presentations are celebrated due to his gift at explaining the abstractions of esoteric thought clearly and with deep insight. He offers the monthly Magic of the Book series in the PRS Library, teaches at 22 Teachings School of Hermetic Science and is the publishing director at Ouroboros Press.

Cinemyth & 7th House Present: Places Wonderful and Strange: A Cinemyth Lecture Series on Lynch’s LA & the Mysteries of Twin Peaks

PRS returns to TWIN PEAKS! During the month of July, join PRS contributing artists, scholars, and special guests to walk into the mysteries of the woods and greet the esoteric ideas and images animating Twin Peaks’ mythogeography. William Kiesel, Devon Deimler, and Guadalupe Arellanes, of PRS’ esoteric Gotta Light? panel are back to present individual deep-dives into the series’ dreams and doubles, myths and symbols, hauntologies and spiritual philosophies.

Our series begins with a special crossover kickoff with PRS’s series and Amanda Karkoutly’s exploration of David Lynch’s LA, and will conclude on July 22nd with a birthday celebration of Twin Peaks’ unfading muse, Laura Palmer. Every week, once a week in July, give yourself a present!
