About this Event
John West-Burnham Memorial - Fringe Events
As part of a series of fringe events celebrating the life and legacy of John West-Burnham, join us at The Oaks Primary School.
Oracy is threaded through the school like a stick of rock right from the early years.' A comment from our most recent Ofsted inspection, which echoes the words from Kate Paradine's opening speech for Voice 21's Speaking Summit 2025 where she describes oracy as needing to be 'an explicit 'golden thread' through the new National Curriculum.'
At The Oaks, we know oracy is pivotal to our children's future success, and that is why it is one of our four curriculum drivers alongside reading, cultural capital and languages of learning. We are proud to have been named an Oracy Centre of Excellence at the end of the last academic year and to share our oracy practice. As part of the morning with us, you will:
* understand the importance of oracy within the context of our school
* have opportunities to see oracy practice
* most importantly, hear the voices of our pupils and what oracy means to them
Tickets are limited, book now to secure your space.
No on-site parking is available at the school; however, street parking is an option on the surrounding roads.
