The Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.Spokenword Competition
Texas Poets/Spokenword Artists/Stortellers/Singers/Actors are invited to submit original written works reflecting on Dr. King’s message and exploring the theme "Dreams From The Mountain Top"
Mike Guinn Entertainment commemorates Dr. King’s extraordinary contribution to the American Civil Rights Movement and his belief in the power of voice through poetic speak and spokenword to create extraordinary displays artistic expression .
Texas Artists are encouraged to consider how their words can encourage and motivate a-stronger, more connected global community.
Spokenword Guidelines
Age categories: ALL AGES WELCOMED.
EVERYONE CAN JOIN: Youth & Adults
Topic: The Spokenword should discuss how their words can encourage and motivate a stronger, more connected global community.
Length: Maximum of 1 page or 250- 500 words. Or 2-4 minutes spoken or read.
Judging: Will done in person and based on originality, performance , content and how well the artists stayed on theme.
Deadline: Jan 16
Awards + Presentation
Artists will be invited to read their works during the MLK Spokenword Competition at 7 p.m. on Tuesday , Jan. 20th, at Dock Bookshop 6637 Meadowbrook Dr Fort Worth Tx
Submission Requirements
Works will keep in mind the theme and spirit of Dr King.
