Five years ago Mark Thompson began the night watch for my son Charlie on May 21st, the night of his Bone Marrow Transplant. It inspired and gave my family much needed strength on that night. We have continued that tradition to try to give some strength to the kiddos and families fighting up in the Children's hospital.
Sunset, Friday May 23rd 2025, we will begin the Fifth annual Night Watch. This will begin at Kinnick stadium at 8:27PM, with the goal to keep running, walking, or moving forward to the best of my ability until 5:39AM Saturday morning.
Anyone is welcome to join for all or part of the loops around Kinnick.
We will also use this to raise funds for the Children's hospital. I will donate my total milage for the night to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. If you choose to join, I encourage a similar donation, or you can sponsor and match the milage amount of myself or another runner.
Finally, wear bright colors, and try to be have lights on your outfit if possible! You never know what sleepless parent or child is watching you from those hospital windows!
