The Next Wave: Latin Country Showcase

Country music has always been more than one story. Latin and Hispanic stories, sounds, and audiences have always been part of country music’s foundation. Bob Wills picked up melodies from Mexican field workers; accordion great Flaco Jiménez traded solos on mainstream country radio; The Mavericks showed how a Cuban-American frontman could sit at the heart of Americana. Not to mention greats like Freddy Fender, Rick Trevino, and Johnny Rodriguez. The current of Latin country is thriving among audiences and musicians, yet studies of country radio play (2002–2020) show Latino artists received only 0.4% of spins (Black artists 0.6%), fewer bookings, and often paid less.

Whippoorwill Arts uplifts the rich lineages of American Roots music to celebrate the brilliant musicians who bring this medicine to our communities. The Next Wave: Latin Country Showcase brings that lineage front and center with a Nashville showcase featuring rising artists redefining what country music can be - bilingual, borderless, and deeply rooted in storytelling. Each artist will perform two songs and stay for a mixer after the show. Come join us at the iconic Anzie Blue and expect a night of soul, rhythm, and connection - a celebration of shared roots and new voices shaping the sound of modern country.
