The New S**t Poetry Slam

Anyone who's been to a poetry slam has likely heard the phrase "NEW SH!T" in response to someone announcing they're reading a brand new poem on the mic. With springtime finally here and with April being National Poetry Month, we thought what better way to welcome in the changing of the season than to put on a reading of entirely new work!

Introducing - THE NEW SH!T SLAM!

This show will have both a poetry open mic and a poetry slam. All poets who participate in this event must bring work that has never before been read on a microphone. This could be a poem that was written day of the event, or a poem written10 years ago that just never saw the light of day. (We ask all readers to please honor this theme and not try to sneak established work into this event.)

The New Sh!t Slam is a fundraiser for the Bigfoot Poetry Festival. Tickets will be $10 pre-sale and $15 at the door.

Our venue for this event will be at the amazing beers brats & beats (8826 SE Stark St).

Doors open at 7:00pm. Show starts at 7:30pm.

Open mic poets get 4 minutes to share one or two poems. Slam poets must come prepared with three pieces that are all 3 minutes or less (lest point deductions come into play). Everyone reading must bring work that they themselves have written.

beer brats & beats is an ADA friendly location. There are no stairs to enter, the event is on the ground floor, and the bathroom is ADA compliant.
