Composed by Max Vinetz, The New Manila Envelope is an evening length experimental work for voice, percussion, and electronics that investigates and calls into question identity formation and transformation. Commissioned by the Fromm Foundation for panSonus (Amber Evans/J Clancy), this work additionally features text by poet/composer/multi-instrumentalist Griffin Brown along with anonymous sources.

Comprised of New York-based queer musicians j clancy (Westfield, NJ) and Amber Evans (Brisbane, AUS), panSonus is an interdisciplinary duo that seeks to promote and collaborate in the creation of unconventional and experimental works for intimately-sized groups of musicians. Fluidly employing combinations of voice, percussion, theater, and electronics, the duo prioritizes works that transcend or abandon codified traditional musical practices. The promotion of accessibility, empathy, and direct human connection through unconventional means is at the forefront of the duo’s artistic motivations. Together, Amber and j frequently collaborate with local creatives, performers, and composers, rendering the duo a community- oriented “modular” ensemble. Through rigorously inclusive and conceptual programming practices, panSonus facilitates engaging and visceral experiences to heighten collective awareness of corporeal, spacial, and material resonance.

Expected runtime is approximately 75 minutes, without intermission.
