About this Event
The New Consort, one of America’s most exciting new vocal chamber ensembles, will be presenting their new program, RETURN/REVIVE - a meditation on grief, hope, and community in these mercurial times. The concert is structured around two major works: the Lamentations of Robert White, a remarkable 16th-century contemporary of Tallis and Byrd who was lost to the Black Death at just 36 years old; and a new piece by ensemble member Jonathan Woody that celebrates our ability to mould adversity into hope, which has been awarded Chamber Music America’s Classical Commissioning Grant to support its creation. In addition, expect everything from Syrian folk songs to Joni Mitchell as we retell that most human of stories: seeking healing and rediscovering purpose in the face of difficulty.
The New Consort:
Agnes Coakley Cox, soprano
Caroline Olsen, mezzo-soprano
Haitham Haidar, tenor
Jacob Perry Jr., tenor
Brian Mummert, baritone and artistic director
Jonathan Woody, bass-baritone
