A mere ten days after the conclusion of the festival of lights, the New Boston Klezmers presents an afternoon of Yiddish music that has absolutely nothing to do with Hanukkah and everything to do with flashy clarinet licks, multilingual wordplay, and raucous dancing in tight spaces.
The New brings together three of the most prominent young musicians of the international klezmer scene to perform new instrumental concert works, Yiddish songs, and dance music. Based in Boston, MA (naturally), the members of the New Boston Klezmers have performed and taught across the world, from New York to New Orleans, Saratoga Springs to Shanghai, Weimar to Vienna. And yes, even in Maine. The New Boston Klezmers features guitarist and vocalist Adah Hetko (Levyosn), clarinetist Nat Seelen (Ezekiel's Wheels Klezmer Band), and violinist Rebecca Mac (Mamaliga). Special guest Akiva Jacobs joins on bass.
