The National Industry PhD Program (NIPhD) Information Session

The Australian Government is investing $296 million to build a bedrock of research talent skilled in university–industry collaboration across the sector under the Increase Workforce Mobility initiative. This includes funding to establish the National Industry PhD Program to support the Government’s commitment to add 1,800 Industry PhDs over 10 years.

The National Industry PhD Program will create powerful new opportunities for industry, universities, and PhD candidates to work together. This prestigious program will forge new pathways for researchers to connect the worlds of academia and industry, opening the door to an array of new career opportunities for PhD candidates. It will make it easier for Australian industry to reach into our country’s inspiring talent pool of PhD candidates, helping to boost the research heft of Australian businesses.

The Program consists of two streams:

• Industry Linked PhD stream: This stream is for outstanding PhD candidates to undertake research projects co-designed by university and industry, with opportunities to be embedded in an industry setting and participate in a 12-week training program.
• Industry Researcher PhD stream: This stream is for highly capable industry professionals who are supported by their employers to undertake PhD projects in partnership with a university while retaining industry employment and salary benefits.

The Graduate Research team are hosting representatives from Campus Plus, to provide an information and Q&A session about the NIPhD program. Successful applicants (PhD students and supervisors) from the University will be attending to share their experience applying for the program. Graduate Research will also provide information about the application rounds and the internal review process to support all applicants.

We encourage all interested researchers, students and industry partners to attend the session.

The session will be in-person and via zoom.
