The Musician's Collective is a grassroots, musician-led community that supports emerging and independent artists in Australia. After a sold-out debut live event at Knox Street Bar (Chippendale) in June 2024, The Musician’s Collective will be bringing the diverse talent within the collective to Oxford Art Factory this December. This is your opportunity to discover incredible local acts and connect with a community of musicians & producers at Sydney’s iconic underground Gallery Bar in Darlinghurst.
Expect a multi-sensory evening of live visuals and musical genres ranging from hip-hop, trip-hop, electronica, ambient, dance, hyper-pop, neo-classical to black metal. Six artists will each bring a unique sound and performance that you won’t want to miss.
The Musician’s Collective is also celebrating it’s first birthday. We would love you to join us in acknowledging the huge impact this collective has by supporting it’s members and emerse yourself in an unforgettable evening of music.
MYXI BUN
After contracting the horridly infectious viral disease of Myxomatosis, which is usually fatal, Myxi Bun instead became freakishly cute but also very unwell in the brain cells. Shunned from the bunny community on her home planet for her strange and twitchy behavior, she harnessed that time alone and taught herself how to make “Mad ass beats to get lit and down to”. She wishes to share these with you.
SELFDIVISION
A blend of electronica and trip hop, Sydney's SelfDivision uses her ethereal vocal as the gateway to her hypnotic music. Possessing a power both in her artistry and femininity, SelfDivision is a storyteller and master of her own sound, moulding her influences to her will. Her music has drawn comparisons to influential artists like Portishead, Massive Attack and Björk.
PRIMITIVE
Primitive has emerged from Sydney’s vibrant underground rap scene to swiftly become one of Australia’s most respected hip hop artists. Born in Gunnedah in country NSW, Prim has survived a life of family dysfunction, with stints served along stretches of Australia’s east coast. Primitive has now found his way to where he belongs: Sydney’s underground music scene. Since winning “Rising MCs” in 2017, Primitive, who boasts influences ranging from Elton John to Slayer to Eminem, has been on a mission to convert listeners through his relentless live shows and innovative studio releases. Known for his intricate word play, Prim’s music is also highly affective and promotes a message of hope. Indeed, Prim wields his microphone with a conviction that arises from his personal journey through pain, addiction and recovery: Prim is intimately aware that from darkness art can grow. His music stands as a reflection on and celebration of his hard-fought 9.5 years of sobriety, and Prim spits his rhymes with a sharpness of vision that cuts deep. Primitive is also a published poet, whose work has been taught at various universities. You can find Prim: playing at your local dive, spitting vocal fire through the wires of the open mic.
L U P O W E R
Based in Sydney, Australia, L U P O W E R is a singer/ electronic producer whose music can be best described as a blend of dub/electro-house/trip-hop/hip-hop/experimental. She has tuned in to her dream-human experiences and conversations with her reflections, which have led her to be the leader of her frequency with original music and vocal harmonies. Her rhythm and sound transmit a contagious groove with electrical power, where light and darkness finds their true expression.
ADAM AHH
Adam Ahh dips his toes in the chaos, goes for the eyes, becomes a pupil. Based in Eora (Sydney), producer, musician and vocalist Adam Ahh’s immersive music draws on electronica, ambient, neo-classical, and black metal to weave lush rhythmic atmospheres that swell with beauty and break with brutality. Come float in bliss or descend into chaos.
KIRSTY ASTEROID
Crashing to Earth on the 7944 kiirstbolt asteroid, kooky intergalactic kween kirsty found herself in a hallucinogenic haze surrounded by hippies and mods, punks and popstars. They took her on trips sublime, introduced her to the highs of dance music and disco balls, the sultry moods of melancholy pop, the sizzling of snares, Stratocasters and synthesisers.
She in turn introduced her new earthling comrades to her futuristic quirky kooky pop tunes about flamboyant flamingos and bloated billionaires, cheap champagne and evil exes. Tunes that make no apologies, suffer no fools, and leave no face frowning and all bodies bopping.
