Mystery Ensemble about the programme:
“On this beautiful evening, you will feel like the heroes of Tolkien’s fantastic universe, where elves, orcs, hobbits, and dwarves live! Imagine: a chamber hall, the authentic sound of motifs from the soundtracks… Fabulous, isn’t it? There are rumours that various film composers, having heard The Lord of the Rings in our performance, strenuously began composing soundtracks for other films – hoping that someday we will also perform them! We decided that we would think about it.
Duration: 60 minutes (doors open 30 minutes prior; late entry is not permitted).
Doors open at least 30 minutes before the concert.
Out of respect for guests and performers, late entry may not be permitted. We cannot guarantee your original seats after the concert begins.

About the venue
Newcastle Cathedral stands at the historic heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, its elegant lantern tower rising above the city skyline as one of the North East’s most recognisable landmarks. Dedicated to St Nicholas, patron saint of sailors and ships, the Cathedral has served as a place of worship, refuge, and community for centuries, with origins dating back to the 12th century.
The Cathedral’s striking Gothic architecture combines medieval craftsmanship with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Inside, soaring arches, intricate woodwork, and beautifully preserved stained-glass windows create a space that feels both majestic and intimate. The famous lantern spire, long used as a navigational landmark for ships along the River Tyne, reflects the Cathedral’s deep connection to the city’s maritime history.
Renowned for its rich and resonant acoustics, Newcastle Cathedral provides an exceptional setting for choral works, orchestral concerts, sacred music, organ recitals, and candlelit performances. The natural resonance of the stone interior allows sound to unfold with clarity, warmth, and emotional depth, enhancing every musical experience.
Located in the vibrant cultural centre of Newcastle, the Cathedral offers a venue where history, architecture, and live performance come together - a timeless setting for unforgettable events in one of England’s most dynamic northern cities.
