The Moon in your Mouth onderzoekt de verwantschap tussen menselijke en niet-menselijke wezens via astrologie en het voedsel dat we eten. Samah Hijawi vertrekt van de oude Arabisch-Hermitische spreuk 'zo boven, zo beneden', en verbindt eeuwenoude kosmologieën met wat er op onze tafel ligt. Terwijl ze het publiek uitnodigt om samen een maaltijd te delen, brengt ze het Middellandse Zeegebied tot Centraal-Azië in kaart en weeft ze een persoonlijk verhaal vanuit haar geboorteplaats. Zo ontrafelt ze een complex web van onwaarschijnlijke verbanden tussen de planeten aan de hemel en het eten op je bord.

The Moon in your Mouth explores the kinship between human and non-human beings through astrology and the food we eat. Samah Hijawi departs from the ancient Arabic-Hermetic saying 'as above, so below', connecting age-old cosmologies with the food on our plate. As she invites the audience to share a meal together, she maps the region from the Mediterranean to Central Asia and weaves a personal story rooted in her birthplace. In doing so, she unravels a complex web of unlikely connections of the foods we eat with planets in the skies.
