Fusion dance is back at Ache Brasil! Final Fridays of every month are for Fusion!You know what I missed? I missed dancing at Fuse with y'all, late into the nights on a Friday, with the good ol' house party vibe. I want to thank Ioana for hosting that lovely and deeply impactful, nourishing, connective event, for so long. I want to thank all of the folks who helped host, volunteer, and run that event for us, because it's Fuse that is inspiring the ignition of The Mix. Let's dance late into the night together again.
The format of the event will be tweaked over time, so please join in excitement and patient curiosity for the evolution. We are kicking it off with the following:
Vibe: Fusion House Party Potluck
Admission: Pay What You Can
-suggested donation of $10, please pay more if your income allows, it will help the event be more supportive of those who can't
-nobody turned away for lack of funds

-please bring a snack item to share for free entry
-If you'd like The Mix to host a dance series/event/lesson, that's awesome! Get in touch! We will be running the last Friday of every month

-strict no shoes on the dance floor policy
-no basement access
-bathrooms are on main floor
-please be scent-free!

A note on the event:
This event is conceived with the vision of providing a flexible and welcoming space for fusion, blues, and adjacent partner dances to occur in a consent-based, supportive, respectful environment. Newcomers are welcome, and we look forward to exploring a variety of dance backgrounds and experience together.

If you are new to the dance form or partner dance in general, please remember and respect the following:
-anyone is welcome to ask anyone to dance
-you are always allowed to decline a dance, and "no" is just as good an answer as "yes". A "no" is to be met with respect and support. Nice job for saying no!
-please don't assume lead/follow based on presentation - ask if your dance partner would like to lead/follow/switch before dancing. Lead and follow positions are emphatically not gendered in this dance space.
-please ask if your partner prefers close or open embrace, or state your preferences for proximity when you ask someone! Not everyone is experienced with or comfortable with close position. If consent for close dance position is not voiced or given, assume open position
-remember that an intimate-feeling dance does not necessarily mean there is an invitation for that energy to leave the dance floor. When in doubt, ask, but do not assume! If you're looking for the right words to ask this question, feel free to ask for feedback from a trusted friend, of the event organizer.
-please be mindful of your dance space. Floor work and contact/lifts/inversions are absolutely welcome, and may be more ideal for the edges of the dance floor, depending on how crowded we get
