On 7 October 2023 Hamas conducted a pogrom against the Israeli Jews. The Hamas action led to a brutal war of destruction and revenge by the Israeli state against Gaza. Is there any chance of Israeli- Palestinian peace after the ceasefire? If so, how?
Following devastating attacks against Hamas, and on Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iran and its allies have been substantially weakened. Iran's ally, the vile Assad regime in Syria, which had been in power for over five decades, fell in early December. Will Syria develop a stable democracy? Can Syria itself survive?
Iran, apparently close to developing nuclear weapons, might well be targeted by Israel and the incoming US government under Donald Trump. Will the Iranian Islamist regime fall? And if it does, who might come to power?
Join us and speakers from across the Middle East. Speakers include Arash Azizi, Iranian writer and academic, author of 'What Iranians Want' and other socialists from Israel-Palestine and Iran alongside Kurdish and Arab activists. We will discuss the issues from a socialist perspective.
Sessions on Syria, Israel-Palestine and Iran.
