THE METEORS formed in 1980 as a reaction to the classic rockabilly bands of the time. But instead of singing about "Big Green Cars" and the existence of "Rockabilly Rebels", they made use of themselves. P. Paul Fenech, Mark Robertson and Nigel Lewis preferred to use themes from classic horror B-movies and soon found themselves all over the media. The press eagerly rushed to hear her new sound, dubbed "Psychobilly". THE METEORS made headlines in the weekly music press, recorded radio sessions and interviews for legends like John Peel, and graced the screen in a short film that made the rounds with the two-tone film 'Dance Craze'. In her movie 'Meteor Madness' there were not only some crazy appearances with the insane trio.
In 1982 the original line-up split. Lewis and Robertson formed their own bands, while Fr. Paul had a free hand with THE METEORS and his idea of what the musical creation “Psychobilly” should sound like. This sound developed into a worldwide genre that was established and further developed by its creator himself. And even today, 40 years later, Fr. Paul Fenech feeds his beast "Psychobilly", inspires countless bands and continues to inspire a worldwide audience and fan base.
