The Mess Maker’s Summer Camp! (Ages 7-14)

Let’s get messy and make stuff! Join us for a week filled with learning how to make your own art supplies, practice being a scientist in nature, explore 3D printing, and more!

This camp is for crafty kids who want to get a taste for lots of different ways to make things. We’ll experiment with pottery, make our own watercolors, create a 3D printed design, explore vinyl cutting, design handmade zines, and sample different printmaking techniques. Along with plenty of outdoor time in Miss Kat’s backyard, we’ll play games and make friends (who also love to make stuff). On day 4, we’ll take a field trip to a local park and create our own nature journals. And finally, on the last day of camp, you’ll create a book of all the memories you made during summer camp.

We have two different camp dates to choose from:

• July 8 - 12
• August 12 - 16

You can select your dates at the Ticket stage during registration.

Campers aged 7 through 14 are welcome. For this 5 half-day camp, we begin at 9 am and end at noon each day of camp. Prompt drop-off and pick-up is required. No overnight accommodations are provided. Full details including exact address will be provided upon registration.

Our space lovingly supports kids with a variety of neurodiversities. Due to student/staff ratios, we are currently only able to host low support need students.

We are two art and dance teachers who try to find any excuse to get crafty. We met during Irish dance class and have been friends for 5 years!

I love making things! I've been a lifelong painter, sculptor, and tinkerer. One of my big goals is focusing on process over product, and working through the process to get a product you're happy with! I've been a dance, music, theatre, and art teacher to people ages Birth - Adult for the past 20 years. I've also been running theatre, Lego, dance and art summer camps for the past 8 years, and love it! In my free time, I hang out with my four cats, homeschool my 2 kiddos, and love watching Taskmaster with my husband.

I love to make art! During the day, I teach classes about printmaking, illustration, and drawing bugs. I used to be a writer, too, and went to California Institute of the Arts to study creative writing and teach new writing students. After I moved to Washington, I worked at a farm and learned a lot about our ecosystems. I also helped run field trips and summer camps there. I was certified for CPR in 2019. In my free time, I like to garden, play video games, hike with my nature journal in hand, and hug my two cats, Goose and Cricket. See more of what I'm making at carapaceillustration.com.
