Set against the gritty backdrop of 1950s London, The Meat Rack, written by Paul Daley, is a dark and provocative exploration of ambition, identity, and survival.
Alfie Connor is a ruthless criminal gang boss who hides his true self behind a veneer of violence and power.
George, a young male prostitute with dreams of escaping the streets, navigates the dangers of his world, working the notorious “Meat Rack” — the haunt of young male prostitutes outside Piccadilly’s grand hotels.
When their paths collide, George sees an opportunity to climb out of the shadows, while Alfie sees in George a reflection of his own suppressed truths. Their tense encounter becomes a battle of wits, exposing the harsh realities of their lives and the cost of pursuing power and respect in a society rife with prejudice and repression.
The Meat Rack unflinchingly examines themes of denial, ambition, and identity, revealing the lengths people will go to in order to survive — and the secrets they must guard to do so.
