Francis Wilson Playhouse is excited to open our 97th Season with The Marvelous Wonderettes. This delightful musical comedy follows four young women through the years while performing hit songs of the 50’s and 60’s in dazzling four part harmonies.
Director Dan Kelley and Musical Director Nathan Daugherty will be holding Auditions at the Playhouse on Monday July 6th and Tuesday July 7th at 7pm.
Please bring an appropriate Audition Song with Sheet Music. Auditioners will be asked to read from the Script and be prepared for a Dance Movement audition.
Performances will be September 11th through 20th at the Playhouse.
CHARACTERS:
BETTY JEAN REYNOLDS: Betty Jean is the self-anointed clown and tomboy of the group, always vying for attention from her best friend Cindy Lou. (Alto with strong low range: D3 to E5)
CINDY LOU HUFFINGTON: Knows she is the prettiest girl at Springfield High. She knows she will be Prom Queen. Cindy Lou is the "sexy bad girl" of the group. It seems that things always go her way, making Betty Jean crazy. (Mezzo Soprano with belt; sings lead on many songs. E3 – F5)
MISSY (MILLER) LEE: Always the over-achiever of the group, Missy is the one to cover for mistakes and is always ready to jump in and save the day. Very controlled, very concerned that everything at the Prom turns out wonderful and perfect. She has been best friends with Suzy since elementary school. (Soprano with wide range and very high vocals. G3-A5)
SUZY (SIMPSON) STEVENS: Suzy is the gum chewing, happy-go-lucky, go along girl… a little giddy and a little silly. She’s always willing to go along with anyone and anything and she seems to giggle at just about anything. She finds great pleasure in everything she does; the sillier it is, the more fun she finds it. Her best friend is Missy. (Mezzo Alto with a sweet, soulful sound and big belts. G3 – E5)
