About this Event
Marjorie Merriweather Post was the only child of Ella Merriweather Post and Charles William Post, who founded the Post cereal empire.
Her parents died in the early 1900s. At the tender age of 27, she became the owner of the Post Cereal Company and the wealthiest woman in the United States.
During her tenure, she bought a number of American food companies such as Hellmann's Mayonnaise, Jell-O, and Maxwell House. With her second husband, they transformed the Post Cereal Company into General Foods, a pioneer in frozen and prepared foods. She was director until 1958.
Post was also a generous philanthropist, gifting $100,000 to what we know today as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.
We visit Marjorie Post's home to learn the story of a business woman from the 1900s. We start with a tour of her home, the Hillwood Estate, followed by a 3 course lunch at the Merriweather Cafe.
This event is capped at 8 executive women.
