Epicure and international radio personality, Sheridan Whiteside is an unwilling guest in the Ohio home of Mr. & Mrs. Stanley. Suffering from a hip injury after slipping on the ice at the Stanley home, Whiteside is confined for ten days to heal up, and it's only seven days until Christmas. With the help of his loyal secretary, Maggie Cutler, Whiteside takes over the Stanley home, wreaking havoc with exotic animals, eccentric academics, celebrity guests, paroled convicts, and a shocking number of long distance phone calls!Matters become worse when Maggie loses her heart to local newspaper man, Bert Jefferson. Not to be pushed aside, Whiteside enlists the aid of glamorous actress, Lorraine Sheldon, to steal Jefferson's affections, and bring Maggie back to her senses.
