The Magic of Motown – Music – History – Legacy with Mike Agron

Join us for a lively, music-filled journey into the formative years (1957–1962) of Motown, where Berry Gordy Jr. turned ambition into a sound that transcended race, culture, and geography—and helped redefine popular music. In this engaging session, we’ll explore how that vision took shape, breaking barriers and bringing audiences together through a new and unmistakable sound. We’ll hear the hits that built the foundation—from Jackie Wilson and Marv Johnson to Barrett Strong, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, The Marvelettes, Mary Wells, and The Contours.

Leader – Mike Agron | Music Aficionado A music aficionado raised in LA’s entertainment scene, Mike Agron is a former high-tech executive and entrepreneur turned storyteller. He creates engaging multimedia seminars on music and film and has led hundreds of sessions for the Renaissance Society Sacramento State and lifelong learning organizations nationwide.

The program is free, but a small campus parking fee may apply.
