About this Event

About the artists

- Melodic harmonies, acoustic mastery, and hand-carved songwriting from the rural fields of New York and Pennsylvania. These young pups are creating a hymnal wise beyond their years with songs that tilt back and forth between helplessly in love on one end, and hopelessly broken-hearted on the other.

Newlyweds, Caleb & Carolyn, wear fiction and true life experience on their sleeve in their stark songwriter duets. Sometimes crescendoing upward - yelling together with a punk-angst tinge, sometimes whispering to each other in weary defeat. It's hard work to stay alive these days. And it's harder work to try to love somebody.

If you're lucky enough to see an upcoming performance of these two (usually in a Buffalo dive bar or at the Philadelphia Museum of Art)... definitely clear your calendar. They just popped out their third baby and are building a cabin off the grid somewhere, so they don't play out a lot, but when they do, they are asked to support Gregory Alan Isakov or Mandolin Orange - the heaviest of hitters in the contemplative folk space. The couple's songs have a cutting edge to them, and seeing them live feels like watching a tightrope walk worthy of center stage.

- Saggio has built a name for himself with his dynamic songwriting and production. When not on tour with Welshly Arms, Saggio can be found in his new studio @ 78th Street Studios writing, producing, and mixing for a multitude of projects.

- Equally versed in classical and non-classical styles, this ensemble has created a niche experience for high-level performances that can cover any genre, from classical to French café jazz, Top 40, hip hop, South American and midcentury American jazz, Irish and American fiddle, original music, and improvisation.

About TERRA

TERRA Songwriting is a growing community of hard-working and nurturing creatives. Our songwriting retreats are focused on holding space for and encouraging creative progress. Breakthroughs come in many forms - a one-on-one conversation, a group listening session, co-writing activities, and more. Retreat attendees will have the opportunity to stretch their skills and grow their knowledge.

We believe that it’s important to displace ourselves to offer our minds a new space to more fully create. We intend to create an environment that not only encourages productivity, but playfulness, camaraderie, and depth. We are committed to find locations that offer disconnection, have modern amenities, are safe and comforting, and sit on natural property.

No matter if you’re a seasoned songwriter or someone who’s just picking it up, we believe everyone will find the retreat experience valuable. TERRA Songwriting Retreats are modeled in a way to facilitate learning from each other and the unique perspectives we all have - in life and with writing songs.
