About this Event
The bungalow court is one of Pasadena’s great contributions to architectural history. This simple form of housing – detached units, surrounding a communal walkway or courtyard – flourished in Pasadena between 1910 and 1930, at a time when it was transitioning from resort town to major city.
Over the past year and a half, LA history blogger Etan Rosenbloom has written about all 30 of the Pasadena bungalow courts on the National Register of Historic Places. Join him to explore the stories and diverse architecture of some of his favorite examples. You’ll get to know the fascinating characters that built and preserved Pasadena’s bungalow courts over the years, and find out what role they could play in the future of housing in LA.
