About the play...
Sequel to Love’s DEFAULT. Set in 2016, Barker Hudson III has since passed on and African American U.S. Senator Esther Bailey is running for re-election, but she's in trouble…her poll numbers are down. Her two challengers, a Democratic Socialist and a populist with ties to extremist groups, are ahead of her by double digits; yet, it is her daughter Emily, a writer for a leftist online magazine, who could sway the course of the election. But how?
Our Footlights readings take place at Scottsdale Desert Stages, located toward the back of the Food Court in Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. The address for Fashion Square is 7014 E. Camelback Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.

DG Footlights™ is a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with free space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. This initiative operates on a space-grant model: a representative from the Guild will arrange for a venue to donate space during allocated dates and times, and will ensure that the space is available for dramatists to use to present a self-produced reading to the public, with an optional feedback session following the reading.
Attendance is always free and open to all.
