About this Event
Join Civic Saturday Akron for The Longest Table, a joyful, free community potluck bringing Akronites together for food and conversation.
Bring a dish to share — homemade or store-bought, simple or special. Can’t bring a dish? Come anyway and fix yourself a plate! There is plenty to go around, and everyone is welcome at the table.

What to Expect
The Longest Table is part potluck, part community gathering, and part civic celebration.
At a location to be announced in downtown Akron, you'll find a row of long tables where neighbors will gather for good food and good company. Some tables will be hosted by neighbors who bring guests and help organize dishes, and there are plenty of spots for folks attending individually, too.
Whether you arrive with a dish, a friend, or simply with curiosity, there is a place for you!
The Potluck
The Longest Table celebrates shared abundance and mutual aid.
We invite you to bring a dish to the table— homemade or store-bought, whatever is available. Consider bringing something with simple ingredients that everyone can enjoy.
Ideas include:
• casseroles or pasta dishes
• salads or sides
• cookies or desserts
• fruit
• bread
• drinks or lemonade
Table Hosts will coordinate dishes with their guests so each table has a good mix.
If possible, please include an ingredients list with your dish, and avoid major allergens like peanuts or shellfish. If you have food allergies, please let your Table Host know ahead of the event. Questions? Email [email protected]

A Community Table will offer extra dishes to share with anyone who would like to try something new.
Our Intention
The Longest Table is about more than a meal. It’s about creating a moment where Akronites who might never otherwise meet sit side by side and share conversation. We believe there is a thread of belonging that ties us all together, and much to discover in the breaking of bread across a community table.

Do you love connecting people and helping them feel welcome?
As a Table Host, you bring up to 6 guests, organize your guests to bring potluck dishes for 10 people, and help welcome new folks who join your table. Because space is limited, we’re selecting table hosts through a short application. Please apply here.
Other ways to share hospitality include volunteering at the Welcome Table, being a Roving Host, and preparing food for the Community Table. Please select a "Volunteer" ticket, and we'll be in touch with opportunities!
