About this Event
ABOUT THIS EVENT
We talk about the climate crisis constantly.. the data, the policy, the timelines, the disasters. What we rarely make space for is how it actually feels.
On April 19th, will transform a corner of Union Square into a living room. Couches, rugs, lamps, plants – the warmth of somewhere you'd actually sit down, slow down, and share.
In the middle of one of the most trafficked public spaces in New York City, we're building an island of stillness and everyone is welcome.
WHAT HAPPENS THERE
🎙 Audio guestbooks (Rotary phones)
Pick up the phone and leave a voice message. Share what worries you about the climate, what gives you hope, or a question you've been carrying. Your recording becomes part of a living archive , a document of where ordinary people actually are on climate in 2026.
💬 Kitchen Table Conversations
Sign up for a small-group conversation with a climate thinker, scientist, activist, or storyteller. Topics include climate grief, raising kids in a warming world, mental health and the eco-crisis, and mutual aid networks in NYC. Intimate, real, no expertise required.
🛋 Furniture for sale — by
Every piece of furniture in The Living Room is donated by Big Reuse, Brooklyn's home for rescued building materials and fixtures. All pieces are for sale on-site. Take something home and every dollar goes directly back to Big Reuse's work keeping materials cycling through the veins of New York City. The furniture isn't just a backdrop , it's part of the message.
This is a free, drop-in event. Come for five minutes or stay all day. The Living Room is designed for everyone — the informed and the overwhelmed, the grieving and the hopeful, the curious and the unsure.
