About this Event
The Little Black Boy book event will take place at Source Booksellers on Saturday September 21 at 3pm. There will be an inspiring book talk by Jonathan McKinney, Q & A and a booksigning line. Books will be sold at the event only.
The Book:
His memoir The Little Black Boy: The Life of a Poor Kid From the East Side is a story about survival, redemption, and the power of forgiveness. McKinney shares his personal story as a young man growing up on the East Side of Detroit, Michigan. His goal for the book is reach each reader to understand that no one is defined by their circumstances, and they have unlimited potenial.
The Author:
Jonathan McKinney is a native Detroiter, who now is living and affecting my community in Columbia, Maryland.
From McKinney's hardscabble beginnings on the streets of East Detroit where crack and poverty were king and guns were easier to access than healthy food to attending Eastern Michigan University and facing down the KKK as a regional director of the NAACP, the story of McKinney's teenage years and rise to manhood is a soul-suffering and redeeming tale that makes for required reading. There is something for everyone in reading about the life and the experiences of The Little Black Boy.
