The Listeners’ Room at Glenaladale series continues this month featuring Lawrence Maxwell and Shane Pendergast on Monday, November 18.
Lawrence Maxwell cut his teeth on beer caps, rough waters, and country music. His latest album, Ballad of Miles was nominated for seven Music PEI Awards in 2023, and in 2024, he received the award for Music PEI’s ‘Entertainer of the Year.’ His songs have received airplay on: Sirius XM’s ‘Top of the Country,’ Country Hits Radio UK and CBC ‘Q’. With its neo-traditional production, and comparisons to both John Prine and Merle Haggard, Roots Music Canada has dubbed the record “the first great Canadian alt-country album of 2022.”
Shane Pendergast is a folksinger from Tracadie Cross, Prince Edward Island. He learned to play by ear at an early age, immersed in a culture of family kitchen parties. In 2021 he released his second album, “Second Wind” which won Contemporary Roots Album of the Year at the Music PEI Awards.
The Listeners’ Room offers an intimate experience within the natural acoustics of a 130-year old school house on the historic Glenaladale Estate. The school house itself has been newly renovated and is a beautiful, comfortable, modern space.
Enjoy two of the Island’s finest performers in a truly unique setting. Both artists are early in their careers and already touring the world and impressing all those they encounter. Get comfortable for a night of songs and stories backdropped by the beauty of Tracadie Bay, just 12 minutes east of Charlottetown.
Doors open at 7PM, showtime is 7:30 PM, there will be a light lunch and bar service, and admission is $20 at the door.
