The Limón Dance Company: MAZURKAS and THE MOOR’S PAVANE

onStage at Connecticut College is proud to present the work of The Limón Dance Company as part of our Guest Artist Series on Saturday, Feb 6 at the Athey Center, Palmer Auditorium!
Connecticut College is presenting the Limón Dance Company at a powerful moment of historical and artistic resonance. The company will perform José Limón’s MAZURKAS (a tribute to Poland’s heroic post-WWII revival) and a reimagining of Limón’s signature work, THE MOOR’S PAVANE (based on Shakespeare's OTHELLO). Limón premiered PAVANE in Palmer Auditorium in 1949 when the American Dance Festival was in residence on Connecticut College’s campus; the re-envisioned choreography by Akram Khan is not simply an update—it is a homecoming and a renewal, bringing the work back to its historic roots while witnessing its contemporary evolution.
Funded in part by the Crossroads: Touring New England program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the six New England state arts agencies.
Tickets: $34; Seniors: $30; Students: $17 (General Admission)
