The Light of East Ensemble

The first time they appeared on a JMW stage, the Light of East Ensemble created a sensation that we still feel! We’ve brought them back for you to enjoy another hour of exotic rhythms and melodies from the East. Colorful musical textures from Sephardic, Hebrew, and Yiddish traditions, as well as Arabic, Armenian, Greek and Turkish. You’ll be spellbound on this exciting musical journey with charming narrative and pristine playing.

The Light of East Ensemble has graced the stages of countless festivals across Canada. They have collaborated with such esteemed orchestras as the International Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphonia and have been heard on CBC radio.
