About this Event

The Legacy Learning Lab at Inner Peace Fragrance creates hands-on arts and learning experiences rooted in creativity, cultural memory, connection and the passing of knowledge from one person to another. Through workshops with practicing artists and educators, participants are invited not simply to observe creativity, but to experience it with their own hands.

The Legacy Learning Lab was created around a simple but powerful idea: the things we learn with our hands can become part of what we pass forward.

For centuries, people have gathered to create, teach, tell stories, share techniques, and pass knowledge from one generation to the next. The Legacy Learning Lab brings that spirit into a contemporary creative space where making becomes an opportunity for connection, confidence, self-expression, and community.

Create. Connect. Remember. Pass It Forward.

On September 24th we will experience a Wire Wrap Workshop

This is more than a jewelry-making class.

During this hands-on Wire Wrap Workshop, you will be introduced to foundational wire-working techniques and guided through the process of transforming wire and beautiful materials into a piece that is uniquely your own.

You do not need previous jewelry-making experience.

Come curious. Come creative. Come ready to work with your hands.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will explore foundational jewelry-making techniques including:

  • working safely and confidently with jewelry tools
  • manipulating and shaping wire
  • creating loops, spirals and organic forms
  • incorporating gemstones, beads and other elements
  • connecting components
  • developing balance and movement within a design
  • learning how an idea moves from raw material to wearable art
  • ways to begin developing your own creative style

And while examples of Tamiko’s original work will be available for inspiration, the goal is not for everyone to leave with the exact same piece.

You’ll learn techniques you can continue experimenting with long after the workshop ends.

What You’ll Create

You will leave with a handmade wire jewelry creation of your own, along with foundational techniques that can be applied to earrings, pendants, rings, adornments and other future projects.

The jewelry featured in the workshop imagery represents examples of Tamiko French’s original design language and body of work — including hammered copper spirals, wire-wrapped stones, gemstone forms, beaded components and sculptural adornment.

What’s Included

Your $90 workshop investment includes:

All core materials needed during class, access to jewelry-making tools during the workshop, gemstones/beads and wire for the class project, guided hands-on instruction, design demonstrations, creative exploration and a finished handmade piece to take home.

Only 15 seats are available.

Who This Workshop Is For

This experience is for you if you:

  • have always wanted to try jewelry making
  • love handmade and wearable art
  • are curious about working with gemstones, wire and natural materials
  • want a creative experience rather than simply buying another product
  • want to reconnect with your own creativity
  • enjoy learning in a welcoming community environment
  • are interested in eventually creating gifts, personal adornment or even developing your own work

Beginners are welcome. No previous wire-wrapping experience is required.

The Legacy Learning Lab Philosophy

Why “Legacy”?

Because creativity carries memory.

The Legacy Learning Lab celebrates the knowledge that lives in our hands — the techniques, stories, traditions and creative practices that can move between people and generations.

Our experiences are designed to make creative knowledge accessible while encouraging participants to build something that extends beyond the classroom.

Create something.
Learn something.
Remember something.
Pass something forward.

What to Expect

Come as you are.

When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into the space, introduced to the tools and materials, shown examples of finished work, and guided through the foundational techniques you’ll need before beginning your own piece.

The workshop will move through:

Welcome + inspiration → tools + materials → demonstration → guided making → individual exploration → finishing → sharing + closing

There will be time to ask questions and receive individual guidance throughout the experience.

FAQ Section

Do I need jewelry-making experience?

No. This workshop was designed to be accessible to beginners while still allowing room for participants with previous creative experience to experiment.

Are materials included?

Yes. All core materials and workshop tools are included in your $90 registration.

What will I make?

You’ll use foundational wire-working techniques to develop a handmade jewelry piece of your own. Examples of Tamiko French’s original work will be available for inspiration and demonstration.

Will everyone make the same thing?

No — and that’s intentional. You’ll learn techniques and principles while having room to make creative choices within your own piece.

Can I bring my own stone or bead?

I would answer this depending upon how you want to teach. My recommendation:

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a special stone or bead you’d like to explore using, although we cannot guarantee every material will be suitable for the techniques taught during class. Materials for the workshop will also be provided.

Is this workshop suitable for children?

You still need to set your age expectation here. If you’re envisioning adults and older teens, I would make it 16+, or 14+ accompanied by an adult. I wouldn’t leave the age ambiguous.

Where is the workshop?

Inner Peace Fragrance inside Midtown Global Market, 920 E Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407.

How many people will attend?

The workshop is intentionally limited to 15 participants so there is room for individual guidance.
