The Lawyer's Conscience
Come join us for lunch and ethics instruction at the United States Federal Courthouse, 262 W Nueva St, for an event that will challenge you, spark meaningful conversations, and offer historical context. The Lawyer's Conscience will also provide 1 hour of ethics MCLE. Box lunches will be provided. Our instructor, Michael Ariens, is the Aloysius A. Leopold Professor of Law at St. Mary’s University, where he has taught since 1987. He is the author of five books, including Lone Star Law: A Legal History of Texas and The Lawyer’s Conscience: A History of American Lawyer Ethics, and the author of more than fifty law review articles. He teaches Constitutional Law, Professional Responsibility, Evidence, and American Legal History, among other subjects. He is currently working on a book on the history of the modern American legal profession, from the early 1960s to the present.
