News of the death of their son Caleb in Afghanistan devastates Laura (Sheila Kelley) and Spencer Peterson (Leland Orser). Their inconsolable grief is broken by a knock at the door: Say hello to a handsome stranger named David Collins (Dan Stevens, in his knockout first major role post-DOWNTON ABBEY), with impeccable manners and a beguiling smile.
David claims to have been Caleb's best friend, which is why he's traveled halfway around the world to meet the Petersons and (supposedly) fulfill Caleb's dying wish. Even though he seems kind and compassionate, though, there's something unnerving about David. Is he a guardian angel, an avenging angel, or just a man on a mysterious mission?
