in the room x Quarry are delighted to bring you 'The Big One' five acts of some of our favourite bands around!! starting from the top we have:The Last Whole Earth Catalog:An eclectic and boundary-pushing project led by Dan Parr will be joining us in on the back of his latest album, We’re All Down The Rabbit Hole, self-released mid-2024.Venturing into the unknown and confusion of our innate obsessions, the album was written about someone who falls in and out of a cult, illustrating the characters’ struggling world view and deteriorating self-preservation as he tries to find his way back out again. Expect the live iteration of The Last Whole Earth Catalog to bounce between indie, folk, jazz, rock, ambient, glitch and more.Sunglasz Vendor:Joining TLWEC are Sunglasz Vendor. Forged in Bristol’s avant-garde underbelly (Bingo Fury, Ex-Agent, Grandchild) at the start of 2023, the experimentalists have embraced the eternal comforts of rock radio hooks, pensive emo, and Kerrang! teenage angst.2024 saw them ply their trade across the UK’s alt circuit with a slew of notable slots at festivals like Dot to Dot and Outer Town Bristol and support slots on lineups alongside the Breeders, Squid, Blue Bendy, Cola, and Kiran Leonard.Their latest release sophisticated thief is a sardonic anthem exploring the nexus of imposter syndrome and privilege. The hook-laden track sees guitars zip back and forth across an intricate dub groove that lands somewhere between Dirty Projectors, The Police and Pavement.
Lobby:
Formed by Lottie Pendlebury of Goat Girl and Toby Evans-Jesra of leather.head, Lobby is a project born out of their mutual love for wistful, folk-ruffled slowcore. Humbly-spun and yarned with love, their debut EP, “nightdriving” is an endearing brand of strung-out alt-rock, and one of Quarrys Favourite EPS of last year!
Lola Vaughan:
Singer/songwriter Lola Vaughan & her band produce a unique blend of art rock and prog rock using long crescendos to create a rich tense atmosphere, guided by her thoughtful, mournful singing. one to watch!!
Ketwig Salon:
Based in Liverpool the band specialise in 'nonverbal wooly webgaze' it is exactly what it sounds like, and then possibly a little less than what it actually is. Ketwig Salon employ distinct guitar riffs and arpeggiated melodies, backed by driving, complex rhythms to create gorgeous, intricate songs that will kae you think "wow, they're pretty great"
