The Last Ballet is a contemporary dance work that honours the nature of dance performance, storytelling, and the structures that define them. Inspired by the epic grandeur of ballet and theatre, this work is a fever dream draped in angel feathers and washed down with a gorgeous sparkling wine. Think Palace of Versailles meets Naarm Street core - Lo-fi yet epic. This work meditates on themes of endings and beginnings, creation and collapse, wrapped inside a raw, imperfect and low-budget theatre landscape.
Ballet dies, from death comes rebirth. A dying star falls from grace and a supernova of reimagined possibilities awaits. Witness an identity crisis take place in front of you and enter a fantastical journey to a world beyond the binaries. Follow this misfit dance show that searches for answers during its final act.
