The Lark Ascending - Manchester Cathedral
Featuring Jeremiah Stephenson (Organist of St Thomas Fifth Avenue, New York)
About this Event
Experience two of the most beautiful works ever written in the breathtaking surroundings of Manchester Cathedral.
Performed by the acclaimed Tallis Choral Foundation, this atmospheric candlelit concert brings together two of the most moving works in the classical repertoire: Maurice Duruflé's sublime Requiem and Ralph Vaughan Williams' beloved The Lark Ascending, performed in Paul Drayton's acclaimed arrangement for violin and choir.
Whether you are a lifelong classical music lover or simply looking for a memorable evening in one of Manchester's most spectacular buildings, this promises to be an inspiring and uplifting experience.
The programme also includes Vaughan Williams' radiant Serenade to Music, alongside a selection of exquisite English choral works, performed by a handpicked ensemble of outstanding young singers from across the UK.
We are delighted to welcome Jeremiah Stephenson, Associate Organist of St Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, New York, who will perform on Manchester Cathedral's magnificent Tickell organ, alongside violinist Jenny Wells, scholarship holder at the Royal Academy of Music.
As a UK-registered charity, the Tallis Choral Foundation is dedicated to supporting exceptional young singers at the beginning of their professional careers. By attending, you are helping to create life-changing performance opportunities for the next generation of musicians.
