The Language of Adavus

Join acclaimed Bharatanatyam artiste Shweta Prachande for a focused two-day intensive exploring the deeper relationship between adavus, music, rhythm, and movement.

The workshop will begin with an exploration of adavus through music—going beyond technique to understand how movement responds to and translates musical ideas. Participants will work on experiencing the adavu not merely as a sequence of steps, but as movement that can communicate, interpret, and speak within a composition.

The second part of the workshop will focus on Mallari, exploring its rhythmic structure, movement vocabulary, and musical framework. Participants will learn a Gambheera Nattai Mallari set to Khanda Triputa Talam, gaining an understanding of how rhythm, music, and movement come together to create a cohesive dance composition.
