Crookes & Crosspool Tabletop Gaming (C&CTG) are proud to host 'The Krkur Kings', their very first Warhammer Old World Tournament on Saturday 6 June 2026 at their usual stomping ground: Crookes Socal Club, Sheffield. The event will be a 'Grand Melee' tournament, where players will be asked to bring a 1,250pt army to play 3 games. RULES IN PLAY
- The latest edition of Warhammer: The Old World rulebook, together with the relevant errata/explanatory notes (as at 30 May 2026, i.e. 1 week before the tournament takes place).
- 3 scenarios will be chosen from the Warhammer Old World 'Matched Play' supplement; please note that you do NOT need to bring the 'Matched Play' supplement (photocopies of the relevant scenarios and tokens required for those scenarios will be provided by the Tournament Organiser (TO) on the morning of the event).
- The 'strategic locations (x)' secondary objective will apply for each scenario.
- Players will need to build a 1,250pt army, using, applying the normal restrictions for any army of that size (but please see below).
- Official 'Legacy' armies are allowed, as per the Warhammer Old World 'Legends' section of the Warhammer Community website (all legacy armies were last updated 17/09/2024). Any unofficial modifications to these armies (e.g. 'Renegades' pack) are NOT permitted.
- The 'Grand Melee' rules from the 'Matched Play' supplement apply; this means that:
• No more than 25% of your army's total points value can be spent on a single character or unit
• Your army may include any number of Level 1 or 2 Wizards (within the army's normal restrictions, if any), but no more than 1 x Level 3 Wizard. No Level 4 Wizards allowed.
- In the spirit of 'Grand Melee', there will be very little terrain obscuring the battlefield; therefore, battles will be fought mostly over open terrain.
Gaming mats, terrain, scoresheets and pencils will be provided. Therefore, players will to bring the following:
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
- A 1,250pt 'Grand Melee' army (see above): your army MAY NOT change between games (i.e. you MUST use the same for all 3 games). Additionally, your army does NOT need to be painted.
- 2 x copies of your army list (one for you, and one for the TO/your opponent). The TO will NOT pre-check players' army lists and will rely on players to bring 'legal' armies for the event. However, the TO may wish to see your army list on the day, so please be sure to have a copy of your army list ready.
- Dice, measuring tools, rulebook, reference sheets etc. You do NOT need to bring the 'Matched Play' supplement (photocopies of the relevant scenarios and tokens required for those scenarios will be provided).
TIMINGS
Each game lasts for 2 hours. The timings for the event are as follows:
09:45 - 10:30: Arrival and registration
10:30 - 12:30: Game 1
12: 30 - 13:15: Lunch ('Best Painted Army' judging takes place)
13:15 - 15:15: Game 2
15:15 - 15:45: Break
15:45 - 17:45: Game 3
17:45 - 18:00: Break (and final scores tallied)
18:00 - 18:45: Award ceremony and close
SCORING
Each game will consist of Tournament Points (TPs) and Bonus Points (BPs). TPs of 0-6 will be awarded per game, depending on the difference in Victory Points (VPs) between you and your opponent.
In the event of TP ties, tiebreakers will be decided, as follows (in this order; please note that this deviates from the Matched Play supplement):
- Total VP difference
- Total VPs won (not VP difference)
- Number of enemy generals slain
PRIZES*
1st place: trophy + C&CTG dicebag + mug & coaster
2nd place: trophy + C&CTG mug & coaster
3rd place: C&CTG mug & coaster
Last place: wooden spoon + C&CTG mug
'Best Painted Army': trophy + C&CTG mug & coaster
*if ticket sales are low, the prizes may be reduced at the TO's discretion. Trophies will still apply, whatever the ticket sales.
AND, FINALLY...
This is a self-policing tournament; any issues should be resolved between players or, if absolutely necessary, ruled on by the TO.
Above all, this is meant to be a fun and light-hearted tournament and should not be taken too seriously (though, of course, there are some top prizes to be won!)
Please note that all monies raised with go towards C&CTG's gaming funds.
