About this Event
Join The Knotty G’s String Band for their first public performance, at The One Stop, Sunday June 30th at 9:00PM. This new twist on an Asheville favorite features Quinn Sternberg on upright bass, and Jackson Weldon on mandolin, lap steel, and pedal steel, but anyone versed in The Knotty G’s history and tendencies knows that names may be added to the bill, and one of a kind sit-ins are a near inevitability.
Husband and wife, Chuck and Gill Knott, are the core of the Soul-Soaked Americana powerhouse, The Knotty G’s. Since 2017 these two have toured the country relentlessly, sometimes calling on a wide range of musical companions to form everything from intimate trio to behemoth 8-piece band performances.
Since becoming a team, The Knotty G’s have amassed an impressive list of stages and festivals, including the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, AVLFest, Strangecreek Campout, Wormtown Music Festival, The Blue Ridge Pride Festival, and Get Off The Grid Fest.
In 2024 they will be releasing TWO new albums of original material featuring nationally acclaimed players, including a full electric band offering featuring Jeff Sipe on drums, Thommy Knowles on keys, Quinn Sternberg on bass, and a bluegrass album that features Lyndsay Pruett (Jon Stickley Trio) on fiddle, along with the aforementioned TKGSB players. In December 2021, they released “Set Sail,” their first full-length studio album recorded with GRAMMY winning producer Matt Williams at The Eagle Room just outside of Asheville.
Seeing The Knotty G’s perform their gritty, yet funky mountain music live leaves you feeling like you’ve reconnected with some old friends.
