About this Event

We are so excited to host the Manchester launch of Thomas D. Lee's highly-anticipated second novel, The Knight Watch! The Round Table clashes with the Second World War in this sharp, wildly entertaining mashup of myth and history.

Doors: 6.30pm, Starts: 6.45pm

Tickets are £5 or admission is free when purchasing a Book & Ticket option, or by picking up a copy of the book in store ahead of the event.

About the book:

A thousand years ago, the Knights of the Round Table made an oath to protect the realm forevermore.
It's safe to say they didn't think it all the way through.
Now Britain is embroiled in the Second World War, and the knights are still fighting the enemies of the realm. They're also fighting each other - Kay and Lancelot haven't spoken since Agincourt, and everyone wishes Agravain would stop speaking entirely.
Isolde - known in myth and legend for her tragic romance with the knight Tristan - is fed up with her tragic reputation. In a time when women have more freedom than ever before, she's determined to strike out on her own. But when she discovers old enemies working alongside the Nazis, she realises she can't fight all of them by herself. It might be time to get the old band back together . . .

About the author:

Thomas D. Lee is a novelist and PhD student interested in how contemporary perceptions of masculinity and nationalism can be interrogated through historical and fantasy fiction, especially through the lens of queer theory. His research focuses on the Arthurian mythos and contemporary Arthurian retellings. His first novel, Perilous Times, was a Sunday Times bestseller.

If you cannot make the event but would like a dedicated copy of the book, please email [email protected] or call us on 0161 274 3331.

Our event format is usually a 45 minute discussion between the author and interviewer, followed by a chance for audience members to ask questions. There will be the opportunity to get your book signed/dedicated after the event. Events are a brilliant opportunity to discover new books, meet authors and likeminded readers and learn something new.

Support your local bookshop and help us keep the Manchester literary scene vibrant and exciting. You can follow us on Eventbrite and social media (@BlackwellsMCR) to keep up to date on upcoming events.
