The Kirals is a four-piece alt-folk/Americana band from Oxford, performing original material from their albums YOU (2019), Goodbye River (2023) and new EP The Last Sunrise (2025).Formed by singer songwriter Jon Heffernan (guitar) and Ally Baker (banjo) in 2017, the band includes ‘accordionista’ Lisa Harker and double-bassist Ryan Quarterman. Americana-UK magazine’s review of the band’s second album noted they are “...like a breath of fresh air as their harmonies and incisive picking deliver the goods” and “...quite thrilling in their reclamation of folk rock."
The band performs regularly on the Oxfordshire music scene including at Wood Festival, Bunkfest, ACE Space Newbury, Jericho Tavern, Tap Social, Oxford Festival of Arts, and the New Theatre Oxford.
