Join The Flourish Alabama, in partnership with UAB PreLaw and the LifeCrafter team, for The Justice Lab: The Untold Story of Sammie Lee Williams, an interactive public socio-trial examining the 1949 killing of Sammie Lee Williams by a white trolley operator in Birmingham, Alabama.

Rather than seeking a legal verdict, this socio-trial will bring together historical record, testimony, and community dialogue to explore what justice, repair, and restoration can look like today. It invites audience members to discuss unresolved harm, connect through shared experiences, and imagine meaningful paths toward community-led justice.

We’re honored to have Judge Michael Streety lead the evening’s deep dive, along with live performances from Birmingham artists Mr. PeanutButter and You Gene Write. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
